SINGAM – tamil movie

Singam - Tamil movie

on my recent bus jurney from Bangalore to Trivandrum i was hoping for a hindi movie and specifically the hindi movie STYLE (e-style). that is my personal favorite bus journey movie. however when the conductor started a tamil movie SINGHAM i was pleasantly surprised. SINGHAM is a movie about a honest cop (rarity now a days) and a villian (kidnaper, killer etc.) and with all the usual indian movie masala romance, songs and the sidekick. the movie has a lot of major action sequences, sequences that if batman or spiderman saw would committee hara kiri in shame. i was laughing my ass off and the sidekick was also very interesting.

Obama (just) talks

August 29th, 2010 § 0

can we talk (more)

the best part of USA that i like is the ability to clear the BS from the actual subject. i revised wall street yesterday and GECKO said

“The most valuable commodity I know of is information”

and then you have Obama who became an american president, the first black president and it seems that that will be his biggest achievement. he appeared very sincere and wanted to change the way america is perceived in the world (forget middle east), but he has been doing more damage than good.

cycling GRADUATION to Std II

August 22nd, 2010 § 2

Cycling STD 1

today is a proud day, after one year of starting cycling i have finally received the passing grade for being promoted to standard II of the cycling academy. Today i have honorably received my first (Chot) injury from my mountain bike. It didn’t happen on a long trip out of the city but on my way back from track and trail (ironically – i had given my bike for servicing there). On my way back i stopped to look at zelalife and fitness first for fitness membership, and as i was crossing Residency road red light and tried to speedup the gear slipped to one lower and my leg slipped from the pedal and the calf went into the crank.

PEEPLI LIVE

PEEPLI LIVE poster

saw the movie yesterday and liked it, there should also be a movie made called ETHICS LOST where one can depict the changes that happen to an individual as he grows (a) in age (b) in career (c) society, i can bet the worst of would be the politicians.

one thing that struck me was that even though the politicians were shown as the most cruel entities in the move, so were the the media, the villagers, bureaucrats and the family itself. it was a story that has a comedy genre, but depicting cruelty.

SITA sings the blues

August 17th, 2010 § 0

my cousin Heenu posted this on the facebook with the excerpt:

I am an admirer of those who think outside the box. I always thought Ramayan is a biased story of “man-made belief system” esp. the treatment of Sita. You gotta love SITA SINGS THE BLUES, one of the most beautifully interpreted animated film that i have ever seen. Its the notion, the blues singing Sita and Ramayan is a quite different perspective….

badhealth games

CWG Delhi 2010

the commonwealth games that are supposed to happen in new delhi in september has become a laughing stock for the world, a concern for the foreign players, a situation for the organizers, shame for indians and reality for indian players.

funny thing is how surprised does the media looks every time such a scandal breaks out. we have been hearing about the unachieved deadlines since last year and it occurs right now to the media that most of the amenities will not be available for the players and the audience (don’t even imagine the support staff). specially TIMES NOW ..  that chap that moderates debates on TIMES NOW, Arnab Goswami is just too much, extreme chap with high on his personal agenda and directing the news in the direction that fits his moral values (or so he pretends). the best that i have seen of a news anchor or a moderator is the devils advocate with Karan Thapar.

Lack of Imagination

July 4th, 2010 § 0

when asked by the US congress what was the reason of the APOLLO 1 tragedy, colonel frank said it was “failure of imagination”. in the context of the tragedy what he ment was that even though they knew that fire was a possibility, they never thought that it could happen on earth and even more while testing and simulations.

my POLITICIANS don’t represent ME

June 11th, 2010 § 0

time and again politicians have proven to sideline every case that requires any hard work from their side. the verdict on bhopal gas tragedy which implicates union carbide and its then CEO Anderson has not been more than a show. the indian media will debate around this for quite a while and then just like the bofors case it will aslo dies down. could it be that just because our own politicians treat us like crap that indian’s in the global forum have to stand as individuals and not as indians. name one indian that has been able to make it good for himself where the state was on his side – none

looking for new words from STEVE JOBS

June 11th, 2010 § 0

he did it again – steve’s presentation have started to become boring now, it is no longer what they used to be. the monopoly on amazing, remarkable, brilliant, hope etc. is like an election campaign, election of the iPhone that is. the tagline in apple.com is this changes everything, again. come on !!!!! that is like the all new surf excel – washes clothes but protects fabric.
